23 Minutes into 2016

Happy new year! When I started writing this post, we were 23 minutes into the new year, 2016. You might have seen fireworks tonight or you went to a party. Maybe you just stayed home and stayed up til midnight like me 💜. Whatever you did to celebrate (maybe you didn't celebrate at all), I hope you have a wonderful new year! Also, I never posted my last "Happy Holidays" post so don't get confused if you see a post on how to make a snowflake in January.

Did you know the top new year's resolution for Americans is to lose weight? Over one third of the population has this as their resolution. Well, if this is your resolution, here is a website with some pointers for you.CLICK HERE!

Another popular one is to stop procastinating. If that is your resolution, you're in luck! Here's a helpful strategy called the two minute rule. If something can be done in two minutes or less, DO IT NOW. Some things can't be done in two minutes. But, we can start them in two minutes. Instead of doing your homework on Monday night, you could have at least started on Friday evening. Then, you would have at least two minutes more of free time. Want more information on the two minute rule? Click HERE

I hope you find those helpful! I'll be posting more on new year resolutions and maybe later I'll post about Niagara Falls!

Happy new year everyone and may you have a great year!

Happy Holidays! Santa Hat Brownies

This is the recipe to make a very cute dessert. You can make your own brownies if you would like but I find it easier to simply buy the brownies instead and do the rest on your own. This recipe tastes really nice and is a little bit healthier than most desserts.

You will need:
-Two Bite Brownies
-Strawberries
-White Icing

STEP ONE: Cut your strawberries. Only cut the top off (leafy part) as shown in the picture on the left. Cutting the pointy part is optional but I find it better to leave it as it is.
STEP TWO: Place your strawberry on the brownie. Position it properly and center it.
STEP THREE: Use your white icing. Place it in a piping bag and make a circle around your strawberry. (Tip: Try changing up the way you put your icing on the brownie! You can make it nice and smooth or you can make fancy designs!)

Finished Product...

Thank you for reading! Happy holidays!
Have fun with your santa hats!

Bloxi

Hi!

Today, I'm going to write about one of my favourite websites, Bloxi. Bloxi is a really nice site. It is all about quizzes which are called Blocks.

You can make 3 types of Blocks. Knowledge, Opinions and Identity.

Knowledge Blocks are tests. They have a right or wrong answer and test how much you know about a certain topic. They also help you learn and grow. If the maker of the Block makes a mistake (Because we all do!), you can write a comment so that they can look into it or you can just write about how much you like the Block!

Opinion Blocks ask around for people's opinions. For example different books and authors. There are no right or wrong answers because it is all about your opinion. No mistakes can be made and of course you can write comments or like it by logging into Facebook. The only thing that I don't like as much is the fact that people can argue over opinions. If it is healthy argument that forces people to think, that's good! But people's feelings can be hurt and that's the one thing that I don't like but otherwise, great job!

Identity Blocks are so much fun.Identity Blocks are fun quizzes. They are about personality and about your identity for example, doing a certain Identity Block could tell you what your spirit animal would be. They are fun quizzes to answer. You can comment about your results. It's great!

Bloxi also has a fun option called Creator Points. Your Creator Points tally up how many Blocks you have made, how many users have shared them, how many people started and finished the Block, your comments, likes and more. The accounts are neat and organized with plenty of room to get creative and personalize. It is pretty cool.

You can try other people's quizzes, search some up by topic or user or check out the most popular Blocks.

Plus, Bloxi can send you email notifications if you wish, alerting you on your new completions of quizzes, shares and your most popular Block of the week. If you don't want email notifications, you can change that setting for a better Bloxi experience.

I hope that you liked this post and checked out my others! If not, you really should. Thanks!
Block on!

Science! Biodiversity and Kingdoms!

Biodiversity and the ecosystem is very important because all the kingdoms rely on each other. There is the animal kingdom, the plant kingdom and the monera kingdom. There are more, but I’ll be focusing on these three.

THE ANIMAL KINGDOM
There are over two million animals classified in the animal kingdom. That is a lot! The animal kingdom classifies most living creatures. It is the largest and most diverse kingdom too. Animals gain energy by eating food. Animals have many different cells which means they are multicellular. Animals can digest and have organs. They can move, chew, and react quickly to other actions. To make animals easier to study, scientists divide animals into divisions and subdivisions. This is because there are so many animals. Humans are also animals. Animals have relationships with other kingdoms too, of course. Animals need other animals to survive since some animals need to eat meat because of their adaptations. For example, a hungry lion cannot eat lettuce. Monera is bacteria that can help animals digest their food but can also cause diseases and illnesses to humans like pneumonia, strep throat, scarlet fever, tooth decay and more viruses. Also, bees pollinate which is very important because if they didn't, all plants would die. Once all plants die, our air will become harmful because plants get rid of toxins in the air and carbon monoxide.  Those are a few relationships.

THE PLANT KINGDOM
Plants are very important as well! After all, most living things depend on plants. There are over 260,00 different species at the moment of plants. Plants are classified by their size, stature, how they reproduce, and if they circulate fluids. A plant is a living organism exemplified by an object that absorbs water, has roots, uses nutrients and performs photosynthesis. A food chain usually starts with a plant. Plants are used in cigarettes (Tobacco) and other poisonous things. Plants are consumers. They are multicellular. There are some plant relationships as well. Some plants like the Venus Fly trap can eat animals (Bugs) and the decaying bug gives it nutrients. Venus Fly traps do need to photosynthesis however. Animals also kill plants when animals eat plants and when humans destroy plants for greedy purposes like building furniture. And of course, plants keep our air clean so if the world had no plants, most living things would die. Some animals can live without oxygen but they don’t affect our society a lot.

THE MONERA KINGDOM
Monera is a kingdom of organisms with one cell. Monera is NOT multicellular. They are basic cells missing the nucleus and membrane. They are the oldest organisms at the moment. They are all prokaryotes which means they have no nucleus or membrane. They can live in absolutely any conditions no matter how harsh. Monera has a very firm cell wall. They reproduce by splitting in half. They have a tail that follows behind them called a flagella. They use their flagella to move. Some people believe that monera is the ancestor of all other life. Monera requires carbon, energy, sulphur, nitrogen, phosphorus and micronutrients. As for relationships, monera can help us digest and break down our food. Also, monera produces Vitamin K in our intestines. Also, monera is used to make antibiotics which help us a lot for when we get sick. So it can cure diseases and cause them.

THE END!

Poetic Power

Poetry is a lot of fun. It's interesting and if you like poetry, you should really enter this competition called "Poetic Power" which I'll be writing about today.

In this contest, you can win supplies for your school. That is, if you do it with your school. All you have to do is write a good poem, enter it in the competition, and if it's a really good poem, it will be published in a book. Then, it will be entered to see if it's one of the top ten poems. If it is, you can win even more prizes! The also do an essay contest called Creative Communications. I've entered the poetry one but not the essay contest. They have started an art contest too. Test your art skills! Maybe you can also buy one of their books. The newest one will be published approximately by December 2015. The book is called "A Celebration of Poets Summer 2015".

I hope you liked the post! If you did, you can 1+ it, share it, or leave a comment! I'd really appreciate it! And check out the Poetic Power website too! Click  HERE!

Thank you!

Babysitting 101

Hello readers! Do you want to be a babysitter? I found a list of all the things that babysitters need to know. Also, this is good criteria for finding a great babysitter.

1. Simple first aid skills

This includes CPR and choking aid I suppose. Of course all the obvious things like how to treat a paper cut and all as well.

2. How to handle emergencies and call 911

No one wants a babysitter who doesn't know what to do in an emergency. "AAH! MY CLIENT FELL DOWN THE STAIRS! WHAT DO I DO?!"

3. Organization skills

Making a babysitter's binder is important and not forgetting things as well. You can't mess up your schedule or else everything will go wrong.

4. Being kind and making a helpful environment

Babysitters shouldn't be scaring their kids. Otherwise, the babysitter won't get anymore jobs and no one will trust them.

5. Rights and Responsibilities

This goes for everyone. Babysitters AND families. Babysitters have responsibilities like doing what their clients say but they also have the right to tell the child to do what he/she is supposed to. The family has the right to tell the babysitter what to do but it's their responsibility to choose a good babysitter.

6. Basic baby and child care skills

You want a babysitter that can take care of children. They know how to feed a baby and change it's diaper. If a babysitter doesn't know the basics, then they probably aren't the best.

7. How to use an epi pen and inhaler

A lot of kids have allergies. A babysitter should be aware of these allergies but in the case of an allergic reaction, the babysitter should know how to use it. Also, inhalers are important too.

I hope you found this list helpful. All babysitters should know this and all families should use this list as criteria for finding a good babysitter. I took a few ideas from Seconds Save Lives First Aid & Safety Training. Thanks for reading!

Fandoms

Hi! So today, I will be writing about Fandoms. What is a fandom? How does it all work? You are about to venture into the world of fangirls and boys and have all your questions answered and who knows? Maybe you'll join a fandom too!

A fandom is a group of people who share a genuine interest in something. A movie, a book or a TV show. Anything! They talk on social media and write blogs together all about their fandom and whatever their interest is.

I'm a part of the Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus Fandom. I'm obsessed with the book just like my fandom. I like to read Percy Jackson posts and make a few of my own. I also enjoy doing Fan Art. This is drawing characters, scenes or comic strips.

Some fandoms make wikis. I really like the wiki for The Selection by Kiera Cass. Wikis can give information and news on anything related to their fandom. From the main character's parents to extreme spoiler alerts (A good wiki wouldn't do that!), these wikis have it all! Are you a part of a fandom? If you know a lot about it, you should make a wiki.

Some fans like to write fanfictions. These are stories relating to the real movie, TV show, book or anything! They can continue on the life of a character, answer an unanswered question or write an alternate ending. They can be videos or books. I absolutely LOVE fan fictions. I like reading and writing them.

Now, I will write a few steps on how people become ultimate fans.

1. Finding out about the book/movie/TV show/other (For now, I'll just say book but it really can be anything!)

2. Reading the book.

3. Loving the book a lot!

4. Reading the book millions of times.

5. Pre  ordering the sequel (if there is one!)

6. Becoming obsessed with the book.

7. Finding out every single detail about the book and its author(s).

8. Crying over dead characters and shipping characters together.

9. Making yourself a real part of the story. For example, in Percy Jackson, fans call themselves "demigods"

10. Getting on social media and finding the fandom.

YOU ARE OFFICIALLY IN THE FANDOM!

And there you have the official ten steps on joining the fandom. They were inspired by Superwoman. But there is a dark side to the fandom.

What happens when people become obsessed with their fandom? It can affect their daily lives greatly. Kids can forget all about their homework while looking at fandom posts. What about using devices in school when not allowed just to read the new fandom's online magazine? And fan art doodles on reports that are handed in late because their parents took a long time to try and erase it off.

Obsessing isn't healthy when you do it too much. Join a fandom but remember to take some time off from it to go outside, do homework and spend time with family.

Thank you very much for reading my post. I really hope that you like it. If you liked it, write a comment, recommend it on Google+ and most of all, please read more! Also, check out my two polls near the bottom of the page. I so far have only one vote on each. Both of them voted by me. Anyways, have a nice day!

Grumpy Cat

Meet Grumpy Cat. Also known as Tardar Sauce.
Grumpy Cat is a female cat. She is a mixed breed. Her mother is a calico cat and her father's breed is unknown. If I had to guess, he might have been a Siamese. Like I said before, unknown. Tardar Sauce is named after Tartar Sauce. Have you noticed that she looks grumpy? This is due to an underbite and dwarfism. Tardar Sauce is a bit undersized and her hind legs are also different. Grumpy Cat has a brother named Pokey. She was born on April fourth, 2012. This means she is currently three years old. So, how did she become so famous, you ask? A picture of Grumpy Cat with captions was posted by her owners, the Bundesen's on a social news website called "Reddit". Grumpy Cat went viral. Now, she's been everywhere from the cover of The Wall Street Journal to American Idol! You can buy Grumpy Cat merchandise too. Grumpy Cat mugs, Grumpy Cat t-shirts, Grumpy Cat earmuffs too! The representative of Nyan Cat, Ben Lashes, is Tardar Sauce's manager. Grumpy Cat is so famous, her owner had to leave her job to take care of her schedule! Interested in Grumpy Cat? Click HERE!
