Science! Biodiversity and Kingdoms!

Biodiversity and the ecosystem is very important because all the kingdoms rely on each other. There is the animal kingdom, the plant kingdom and the monera kingdom. There are more, but I’ll be focusing on these three.

THE ANIMAL KINGDOM
There are over two million animals classified in the animal kingdom. That is a lot! The animal kingdom classifies most living creatures. It is the largest and most diverse kingdom too. Animals gain energy by eating food. Animals have many different cells which means they are multicellular. Animals can digest and have organs. They can move, chew, and react quickly to other actions. To make animals easier to study, scientists divide animals into divisions and subdivisions. This is because there are so many animals. Humans are also animals. Animals have relationships with other kingdoms too, of course. Animals need other animals to survive since some animals need to eat meat because of their adaptations. For example, a hungry lion cannot eat lettuce. Monera is bacteria that can help animals digest their food but can also cause diseases and illnesses to humans like pneumonia, strep throat, scarlet fever, tooth decay and more viruses. Also, bees pollinate which is very important because if they didn't, all plants would die. Once all plants die, our air will become harmful because plants get rid of toxins in the air and carbon monoxide.  Those are a few relationships.

THE PLANT KINGDOM
Plants are very important as well! After all, most living things depend on plants. There are over 260,00 different species at the moment of plants. Plants are classified by their size, stature, how they reproduce, and if they circulate fluids. A plant is a living organism exemplified by an object that absorbs water, has roots, uses nutrients and performs photosynthesis. A food chain usually starts with a plant. Plants are used in cigarettes (Tobacco) and other poisonous things. Plants are consumers. They are multicellular. There are some plant relationships as well. Some plants like the Venus Fly trap can eat animals (Bugs) and the decaying bug gives it nutrients. Venus Fly traps do need to photosynthesis however. Animals also kill plants when animals eat plants and when humans destroy plants for greedy purposes like building furniture. And of course, plants keep our air clean so if the world had no plants, most living things would die. Some animals can live without oxygen but they don’t affect our society a lot.

THE MONERA KINGDOM
Monera is a kingdom of organisms with one cell. Monera is NOT multicellular. They are basic cells missing the nucleus and membrane. They are the oldest organisms at the moment. They are all prokaryotes which means they have no nucleus or membrane. They can live in absolutely any conditions no matter how harsh. Monera has a very firm cell wall. They reproduce by splitting in half. They have a tail that follows behind them called a flagella. They use their flagella to move. Some people believe that monera is the ancestor of all other life. Monera requires carbon, energy, sulphur, nitrogen, phosphorus and micronutrients. As for relationships, monera can help us digest and break down our food. Also, monera produces Vitamin K in our intestines. Also, monera is used to make antibiotics which help us a lot for when we get sick. So it can cure diseases and cause them.

Poetic Power

Poetry is a lot of fun. It's interesting and if you like poetry, you should really enter this competition called "Poetic Power" which I'll be writing about today.

In this contest, you can win supplies for your school. That is, if you do it with your school. All you have to do is write a good poem, enter it in the competition, and if it's a really good poem, it will be published in a book. Then, it will be entered to see if it's one of the top ten poems. If it is, you can win even more prizes! The also do an essay contest called Creative Communications. I've entered the poetry one but not the essay contest. They have started an art contest too. Test your art skills! Maybe you can also buy one of their books. The newest one will be published approximately by December 2015. The book is called "A Celebration of Poets Summer 2015".

I hope you liked the post! If you did, you can 1+ it, share it, or leave a comment! I'd really appreciate it! And check out the Poetic Power website too! Click  HERE!

Thank you!

Babysitting 101

Hello readers! Do you want to be a babysitter? I found a list of all the things that babysitters need to know. Also, this is good criteria for finding a great babysitter.

1. Simple first aid skills

This includes CPR and choking aid I suppose. Of course all the obvious things like how to treat a paper cut and all as well.

2. How to handle emergencies and call 911

No one wants a babysitter who doesn't know what to do in an emergency. "AAH! MY CLIENT FELL DOWN THE STAIRS! WHAT DO I DO?!"

3. Organization skills

Making a babysitter's binder is important and not forgetting things as well. You can't mess up your schedule or else everything will go wrong.

4. Being kind and making a helpful environment

Babysitters shouldn't be scaring their kids. Otherwise, the babysitter won't get anymore jobs and no one will trust them.

5. Rights and Responsibilities

This goes for everyone. Babysitters AND families. Babysitters have responsibilities like doing what their clients say but they also have the right to tell the child to do what he/she is supposed to. The family has the right to tell the babysitter what to do but it's their responsibility to choose a good babysitter.

6. Basic baby and child care skills

You want a babysitter that can take care of children. They know how to feed a baby and change it's diaper. If a babysitter doesn't know the basics, then they probably aren't the best.

7. How to use an epi pen and inhaler

A lot of kids have allergies. A babysitter should be aware of these allergies but in the case of an allergic reaction, the babysitter should know how to use it. Also, inhalers are important too.

I hope you found this list helpful. All babysitters should know this and all families should use this list as criteria for finding a good babysitter. I took a few ideas from Seconds Save Lives First Aid & Safety Training. Thanks for reading!
